Innings 1-3

We start the game with the Nationals coming up in the top of the first, and it's a quick one. Three batters, no runs, and we're back in the field before you can settle into your seat. Score stays zero-zero. Then the Dodgers come up in the bottom of the first, and this one gets interesting fast. They're working the count, they're putting runners on, and with two outs and two on, Teoscar Hernández steps in. He takes a swing and lines one to left field, where Daylen Lile is waiting, but it's hit too well. Freddie Freeman comes around to score, Kyle Tucker moves to second, and just like that, we're down one-nothing. But the inning isn't over. Two outs, two on, and Hunter Feduccia is up. He hits a ground ball to center field, Dylan Crews is there but can't make the play in time. Kyle Tucker scores, Teoscar Hernández moves to third, and now we're looking at a two-nothing deficit before we've even gotten our bats going. Top of the second, and we need an answer. One out, a runner on, and Jorbit Vivas draws a walk. That's the kind of patience we need. Then José Tena comes up with one out and two on, and he lifts a sacrifice fly to center field. Tommy Edman makes the catch, but CJ Abrams tags up and scores. We're on the board, one-two. And we're not done. Two outs, a runner on, and Keibert Ruiz steps in. He rips a sharp line drive to center field, Tommy Edman has to chase it down. Jorbit Vivas moves to third, and now we've got something cooking. But we can't push another one across, and the inning ends with us down one-two. The bottom of the second is quiet. Three Dodgers batters, no runs, and we're back in the dugout. Top of the third, four batters, no runs. Bottom of the third, three batters, no runs. We're still down one-two, but we're hanging in there.

Innings 4-6

Top of the fourth, and this is where we start to make some noise. No outs, bases empty, and Brady House steps in. He swings and lines one to right field, Kyle Tucker can't get to it. Brady House is on first, and we've got a runner with nobody out. The inning moves along, and with two outs and a runner on, Keibert Ruiz is up again. He hits a sharp ground ball to right field, Kyle Tucker fields it but there's no play. Brady House comes around to score, Keibert Ruiz hustles into second, and we've tied this game at two-two. And we're not finished. Two outs, a runner on, and Dylan Crews steps in. He hits a ground ball to left field, Alex Call is there but it's hit too hard. Keibert Ruiz scores, Dylan Crews is on second, and just like that, we've taken the lead. Three-two, Nationals. The bottom of the fourth is a quick one. Four Dodgers batters, no runs. Top of the fifth, four batters, no runs. Bottom of the fifth, three batters, no runs. Top of the sixth, three batters, no runs. We're holding on to this one-run lead, three-two, and we're heading into the later innings with everything to play for.

The Sequence

Bottom of the sixth, and the Dodgers go down in order. Three batters, no runs. We're still up three-two, and we're feeling good. Top of the seventh, and we add to it. One out, a runner on, and Daylen Lile steps in. He doubles on a line drive to left field, Alex Call can't get there. Dylan Crews scores, and we're up four-two. That's a big one. But the Dodgers answer in the bottom of the seventh. Two outs, two on, and Tommy Edman steps in. He gets a pitch he likes and sends it deep to right center field. Alex Freeland scores, Enrique Hernández scores, and just like that, the Dodgers have taken the lead back, four-five. Top of the eighth, three batters, no runs. We're down one, and we need to get something going. Bottom of the eighth, and the Dodgers are putting it together. They load the bases with two outs, and Alex Call steps in. He gets hit by the pitch, and Mookie Betts comes around to score. Kyle Tucker moves to third, Alex Freeland moves to second, and now we're down four-six. Top of the ninth, and we're not done yet. Two outs, a runner on, and Daylen Lile steps in again. He singles on a ground ball to shortstop, Mookie Betts fields it but there's no play. James Wood scores, and we've cut it to five-six. But that's all we can get. The game ends with us down by one.

Wrap-up

Final score, five-six, Dodgers by one. We fought back, we took the lead, and we had our chances. But in the end, it wasn't enough. We're heading home with a tough loss, but we showed something tonight. We never quit, and that's what matters. We'll get them next time.

It's a fresh one here at Dodger Stadium, and we've got the Washington Nationals in town. Our boys in blue are looking to keep the good times rolling, and we've got a ballgame to get to. The Nationals are on the road, and we're at home, and that's just the way we like it. Let's play ball.

Innings 1-3

The Nationals go down quietly in the top of the first. Three batters, no runs, and we're back in the dugout with a clean slate. Scoreless game, and it's our turn to make some noise. And boy, do we ever. Seven batters come up in the bottom of the first, and we put together a rally that has this place rocking. With two outs and two on, Teoscar Hernández steps in, and he laces a line drive into left field. Freddie Freeman comes racing home, and Kyle Tucker motors over to second. That's the first run of the game, and we've got the lead. But we're not done yet. Hunter Feduccia is up next, and he pokes a ground ball through the middle into center field. Kyle Tucker scores, Teoscar Hernández moves to third, and just like that, it's two nothing. Two runs on the board in the first inning, and the crowd is on their feet. The Nationals answer back in the top of the second. With one out and a runner on, Jorbit Vivas draws a walk, and suddenly they've got something cooking. Then José Tena steps in with one out and two on, and he lifts a sacrifice fly to center field. Tommy Edman makes the catch, but CJ Abrams tags up and scores. They're on the board, and it's a one-run game. Keibert Ruiz keeps the inning alive with a sharp line drive double to center, Jorbit Vivas holds at third, but they can't push another one across. We get out of it, and it's still our ballgame. The next few innings go by in a hurry. We go down in order in the bottom of the second, and the Nationals strand a couple in the top of the third. We come up in the bottom of the third and go down quietly again. After three, it's still one to two, and we're holding on to a slim lead.

Innings 4-6

The Nationals come out swinging in the top of the fourth. Brady House leads off with a line drive single to right field, and just like that, they've got a baserunner with nobody out. We need a shutdown inning, but they keep grinding. With two outs and a runner on, Keibert Ruiz steps in and ropes a sharp ground ball to right field. Brady House comes around to score, and the game is tied at two apiece. The air goes out of the building for a second, but we're not done yet. Dylan Crews follows with a ground ball double to left field, and Keibert Ruiz comes racing home from second. Just like that, they've taken the lead. Three to two, and we're on the wrong side of it. We come up in the bottom of the fourth needing an answer, but we go down in order. Four batters come up, and we can't push anything across. The Nationals go quietly in the top of the fifth, and we go down in order again in the bottom of the fifth. Three more batters, no runs, and the frustration is starting to build. The Nationals are quiet in the top of the sixth, and we're still chasing that lead. Three to two, and we need something to happen.

The Sequence

This is where the game gets decided. We come up in the bottom of the sixth, and we go down in order. Three batters, no runs, and the Nationals are still holding that one-run lead. Then, in the top of the seventh, they strike again. With one out and a runner on, Daylen Lile doubles on a line drive to left field, and Dylan Crews comes racing home. It's four to two, and we're staring at a two-run deficit. But this team doesn't quit. We come up in the bottom of the seventh, and we need a spark. Six batters come up, and with two outs and two on, Tommy Edman steps to the plate. He gets a pitch he likes, and he launches it. A fly ball to right center field, and it's gone. Tommy Edman homers, Alex Freeland scores, Enrique Hernández scores, and just like that, the game is flipped on its head. Four to five, and we've got the lead back. The crowd is absolutely electric. The Nationals go down quietly in the top of the eighth, and we come up in the bottom of the eighth looking for insurance. Seven batters come up, and we load the bases with two outs. Alex Call steps in, and he gets hit by a pitch. Mookie Betts comes racing home, Kyle Tucker moves to third, Alex Freeland moves to second, and we've extended our lead. Four to six, and we're feeling good. But the Nationals don't go away quietly. In the top of the ninth, they make one last push. Six batters come up, and with two outs and a runner on, Daylen Lile singles on a ground ball to shortstop. Mookie Betts fields it, but James Wood comes racing home. It's five to six, and suddenly, it's a one-run game with the tying run on base. The tension is unbearable. But we get the final out, and the game is ours.

Wrap-up

Final score: Washington Nationals five, Los Angeles Dodgers six. We took the lead, we gave it back, we took it again, and we held on. Tommy Edman's home run in the seventh was the moment this game turned, and we never looked back. It wasn't pretty, and it wasn't easy, but a win is a win. And this one feels good.
