He fires home to William Contreras, and Bregman is out at the plate. It's a huge play for the Brewers, and we're left with runners on the corners and two outs. The momentum we had is gone, just like that. We can't push a run across, and we're still tied at zero. The bottom of the fourth is quick, three batters for the Brewers, and we're back to the top of the fifth. With two outs and nobody on, Pedro Ramírez digs in. He gets a pitch he can handle, and he doesn't miss it. That ball is gone, a fly ball to left field that just keeps carrying. It's over the fence, and we've got the first run of the game. That's a solo shot, and we're up one to nothing. The bench is fired up, and we've finally broken through. But the Brewers answer right back in the bottom of the fifth. The Sequence

This is where the game gets decided. The bottom of the sixth is quick, three batters for the Brewers, and we're back in the dugout. The top of the seventh, and we're looking to take the lead. With two outs and two runners on, Alex Bregman steps to the plate. He gets a pitch he can drive, and he sends a sharp ground ball to center field. Garrett Mitchell is out there, but he can't cut it off. Pete Crow-Armstrong scores from second, and Seiya Suzuki moves up to second. We're up two to one. That's a big hit, and we've got the lead back. The bottom of the seventh is a quick one, three batters for the Brewers, and we're still up by one. The top of the eighth, we go three up, three down. We can't add on, and we're heading to the bottom of the eighth with a one-run lead. We need three more outs. But the Brewers have other ideas. He hits a fly ball to right field, and Matt Shaw is there. He makes the catch, but Jackson Chourio tags up and scores. Brice Turang moves to third. It's a sacrifice fly, and the Brewers have extended their lead to four to two. We're in a hole now, and we've got one more chance. The top of the ninth, and we're down to our last three outs. With two outs and nobody on, Pete Crow-Armstrong steps to the plate. He gets a pitch he can handle, and he drives it on a line to right center field. That ball is gone. It's a solo home run, and we've cut the lead to one. We're down four to three, and we've got one more batter. But we can't tie it up. The game ends, and we come up just short.

Wrap-up

Final score, Chicago Cubs three, Milwaukee Brewers four. We had our chances. We took the lead, we gave it back, and we couldn't get that last run across.
