Then, with no time on the clock, Purdy throws one short right, intended for Kittle, and it's picked off by Lake at the LA 31. A turnover, but it doesn't matter. The game is over. Stafford comes back in for one last heave, and he goes deep right for Nacua. Green is there again, and he picks it off at our 14. Another turnover. The defense is just feasting. We get the ball back, and we're trying to put together a drive. Stafford is slinging it, but the Niners' defense is all over us. We get to a fourth down, and Stafford drops back, he's looking deep right for Ferguson, but the pass is incomplete. Turnover on downs. Another chance, gone. The Niners take over, and they're just running the clock. They're not taking any chances. They get into our territory, but our defense holds, and they miss a field goal. We get the ball back with a little over three minutes left. We're in garbage time now. We're just trying to get something on the board. Stafford is out, and Bennett is in. He's moving the chains, he's finding Rivers. But it's too little, too late. We're just running out the clock. There's a moment, with 1:05 left, when Bennett finds Rivers for a 5-yard gain, but Dotson is injured on the play. That's the kind of night it's been. We can't even get a clean play without something going wrong. The game ends. 27 to 7. It's a tough one to swallow. We had our chances in the third quarter, but we couldn't capitalize. The Niners did, and that was the difference.
