We've got a full nine (or more) ahead of us, and the energy is already buzzing through the stands. The Mariners have the ball first, and we're ready to see what our boys can do against them. It's a new day, a new game, and we're looking to come out on top. Let's get into it.

Innings 1-3

The Mariners come out swinging in the top of the first. They send five batters to the plate, and they scratch across a run. It's not the start we wanted, but it's early. We're down 1 to 0, but we've got our bats coming up. And we answer right back. In the bottom of the first, we send seven men to the plate. With no outs and a runner on, Jeff McNeil steps in. He gets a pitch he likes and drives it on a sharp line drive to center field. Julio Rodríguez gives chase, but it's out of reach. Henry Bolte comes around to score, and just like that, we've tied it up. The crowd is on its feet. That's how you respond. We're not down for long. We take the lead, 2 to 1. But Seattle isn't going to just roll over. In the top of the second, they're back at it. Five batters, and they plate another one. With no outs and the bases empty, Josh Naylor hits a fly ball to left field. Carlos Cortes is there, but he can't bring it in. It falls for a single, and the Mariners have something going. Innings 4-6

The Mariners come up in the top of the fourth, and they're looking to chip away. Three batters, and they don't score, but they make some noise. With one out and the bases empty, Cole Young hits a sharp fly ball to right field. Lawrence Butler is on the run, but he can't get there. It's a triple, and suddenly Seattle has a man at third with just one out. But we bear down, we get the next two, and we keep them off the board. Still 4 to 2. Bottom of the fourth, and we're trying to add on. Six batters come up, but we can't push a run across. Tommy White leads off with a sharp single to center off Julio Rodríguez, but we can't bring him home. We leave him stranded, and it stays 4 to 2. Top of the fifth, and Seattle is still pressing. But again, we get out of it. We strand him at third, and we keep our lead. Bottom of the fifth, and we go quietly. Four batters, no runs. We're still up 4 to 2, but we know this game isn't over. Top of the sixth, and the Mariners finally break through. Five batters, and they plate two. With one out and a runner on, Lazaro Montes steps in. He gets a pitch he can handle, and he sends it on a fly ball to right center field. It's got the carry, and it's gone. Josh Naylor scores ahead of him, and just like that, the lead is gone. The Stretch

So here we are, folks. Four to four after six. We had a lead, we gave it back, and now it's a brand new ballgame. The play that turned this one on its head was Lazaro Montes's homer in the top of the sixth. We were up 4 to 2, feeling good, and he just took one out to right center. Josh Naylor scored, and the whole momentum shifted. But we've got the bats, we've got the fight, and we've got the home crowd behind us.
