Milwaukee at Los Angeles Dodgers

This is Missed It. Milwaukee at Los Angeles Dodgers, Wednesday, October 14, 79 and clear at Dodger Stadium, with the Brewers. You missed it? Here's the whole game, as it happened.

Pregame

We are back at it, Brewers fans, for game three of this seven-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers. We come in a perfect two and oh, having taken the first two games of the series, while the Dodgers are still searching for their first win at oh and two. The bats have been alive, the pitching has been sharp, and we have a chance to put a stranglehold on this series today. It's a beautiful day for baseball, and we are all feeling it.

Top 1

We are underway in Los Angeles, and we don't waste any time. Jackson Chourio digs in for the very first at-bat of the game, no outs, bases empty. The pitch comes in, and Chourio gets all of it. He launches a fly ball to right center field, and that ball is gone. It's a home run on the very first pitch of the game. Just like that, we are on the board. One to nothing, Brewers. The crowd here is stunned, but we are not. That is exactly how you start a road trip. Chourio rounds the bases, and we have ourselves an early lead.

Bot 1

The Dodgers come up looking to answer, but our guy on the mound is dealing. He sets them down in order, three batters, three outs. A quick, clean inning. No drama, no traffic on the bases. We are back in the dugout with our one-run lead intact, and the confidence is just pouring off this team right now.

Top 2

We get a little something going in the second. A couple of runners reach base, and with one out, we have two on for Luis Lara. This is a chance to blow this game open early. Lara gets a pitch he can handle and drives it to right field. But Kyle Tucker is out there, and he camps under it. He makes the catch for the out. Lara flies out, and the runners have to hold. The threat is over, but we still have the lead. It feels like a missed opportunity, but we'll take the one-run advantage.

Bot 2

The Dodgers get a base runner in their half of the second, but they can't do anything with him. Four batters come up, and we get out of it without any damage. The defense is sharp behind our pitcher, and we are keeping them off balance. After two full innings, it's still one to nothing, Brewers.

Top 3

A quiet inning for us at the plate. Three batters, three outs, right back to the dugout. We aren't adding on, but we are keeping the pressure on their starter. It's a pitcher's duel right now, and we have the lead. We'll take that all day long.

Bot 3

This is where the Dodgers start to make some noise. With one out, Miguel Rojas reaches base, and then Mookie Betts steps in. Betts slaps a ground ball down the left field line, and Jackson Chourio is there to field it. But Betts is fast, and he beats the throw. A single for Betts, and Rojas moves up to second. Now they have two on with just one out, and Freddie Freeman is coming to the plate. This is a big moment. Freeman is a professional hitter, and he's looking to tie this game. He swings, and he drives it to left field. Chourio is camped under it, and he makes the catch. That's out number two. The runners have to hold. Now it's Teoscar Hernández with two on and two outs. He gets a pitch and grounds it up the middle. Cooper Pratt is there, he flips to Brice Turang at second, and they get Betts at second for the force out. Inning over. The Dodgers threaten, but we slam the door. It's still one to nothing after three.

Top 4

We go down in order again in the top of the fourth. Their pitcher has settled in, but so has ours. This is a classic pitchers' duel, and we are on the right side of it. We just need one more run, maybe two, to give our guy some breathing room.

Bot 4

The Dodgers get a couple of men on in the bottom of the fourth, but again, they can't push a run across. Four batters, no runs. We are dancing out of trouble every single time. The defense is making the plays, the pitcher is making the pitches. It's one to nothing, and every out feels huge right now.

Top 5

Another quick inning for us at the plate. Three up, three down. We are not generating any offense right now, but we are also not giving them anything. This game is being played on a knife's edge, and we have the lead.

Bot 5

The Dodgers lead off the bottom of the fifth, and Miguel Rojas works a walk. No outs, a runner on first. This is a dangerous spot. They are one swing away from tying this game. But our guy bears down. He gets the next three batters in order, and Rojas is stranded right where he is. We get out of the inning, and the score remains one to nothing. Our pitcher is dealing, and we are five innings from a three-game sweep.

The Stretch

Here we are at the stretch, and it's still one to nothing. The play that defined this half of the game was that bottom of the third, when the Dodgers had two on and one out with Freddie Freeman at the plate. Chourio made the catch in left, and then Pratt and Turang turned that force out to end the threat. That was the moment. They had all the momentum, and we took it right back. We have been living on the edge, but our pitching and defense have been flawless. We need to find a way to scratch out another run, because one run against this Dodgers lineup is not going to be enough. We need to keep the pressure on, keep the zero on the board, and find a way to break this game open.

Top 6

We go down in order once more in the top of the sixth. Three batters, no runs. The bats are cold, but the lead is still ours. We are handing it back to our pitcher, and he has been nothing short of spectacular.

Bot 6

And then, the bottom of the sixth. The Dodgers finally break through. They load the bases with one out, and Will Smith comes to the plate. Smith is a dangerous hitter, and he gets a pitch he can drive. He sends a sharp fly ball to center field. Garrett Mitchell is tracking it, but it's over his head. It's off the wall. Teoscar Hernández scores from third. Kyle Tucker scores from second. Shohei Ohtani is on third. It's a double for Smith, and just like that, the Dodgers have taken the lead. Two to one. The crowd here erupts, and we are suddenly on the wrong side of this thing. Our pitcher had been so good, but one swing has changed everything. We are down, and we need an answer.

Top 7

And we answer. Christian Yelich leads off the inning with a single, and Jake Bauers steps to the plate with no outs and a runner on. Bauers gets a pitch he likes, and he launches it to right field. That ball is gone. A two-run home run, and just like that, we are back on top. Three to two, Brewers. The dugout is electric. And we aren't done. Garrett Mitchell, the very next batter, no outs, bases empty, he gets a pitch and he sends it to right center field. That ball is gone too. Back-to-back home runs. Four to two. We have taken the lead right back, and we have all the momentum in the world. The Dodgers are stunned, and we are rolling.

Bot 7

The Dodgers come up in the bottom of the seventh, and we send them down in order. Three batters, three outs. The energy has completely shifted. We are on the attack, and they are on their heels. It's four to two, and we are six outs away.

Top 8

We are looking to add on in the top of the eighth. We get a couple of runners on with one out, and Christian Yelich is at the plate. This is a chance to put this game completely out of reach. Yelich swings, and he misses. He strikes out swinging. The runners are stranded, but we still have a two-run lead. It feels like a missed chance, but we are still in control.

Bot 8

The Dodgers get a base runner in the bottom of the eighth, but they can't do anything with him. Four batters, no runs. We are slamming the door, and we are three outs away from a three-game sweep.

Top 9

We add an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Five batters come up, and we push one more across. It's now six to two, Brewers. This one is just about in the books.

Bot 9

The Dodgers come up for their last chance, and we send them down in order. Three batters, three outs. Ballgame. We win it, six to two.

Wrap-up

And that is the ballgame. We take game three, six to two, and we are now three and oh on the season. The Dodgers fall to oh and three. We lead this series three games to none with four games to play. We are in complete control, and we are not letting up. What a performance. What a win. We'll see you tomorrow, Brewers fans.

Milwaukee at Los Angeles Dodgers

This is Missed It. Milwaukee at Los Angeles Dodgers, Wednesday, October 14, 79 and clear at Dodger Stadium, with the Dodgers. You missed it? Here's the whole game, as it happened.

Pregame

Alright, Dodger fans, let's take a deep breath. We are back at it for Game 3 of this seven-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers, and we are in a hole. We come in at oh and two, the Brewers are two and oh, and they have taken the first two games of this set. We need this one. We need to protect our home field and get back into this thing before it gets away from us. It's early, but the urgency is real. Let's see if we can get the bats going and flip this series on its head.

Top 1

We're underway, and the Brewers waste absolutely no time. Jackson Chourio steps in with nobody on and nobody out in the top of the first, and he gets a pitch he can handle. He launches it, a fly ball to right center field, and it just keeps carrying. That ball is gone. A leadoff homer, and just like that, it's one to nothing Milwaukee. The crowd here goes quiet, and we're left shaking our heads. We needed a clean start, and instead, we're chasing from the very first pitch. It's a punch in the gut, but it's early. We've got nine innings to answer.

Bot 1

We come up in the bottom of the first, and we need an answer. We send three batters to the plate, and we get nothing going. Three up, three down. No traffic on the bases, no hard contact, just a quick inning and we're back on the field. The deficit stays at one. It's frustrating, but we're not panicking. We just need to string something together.

Top 2

Top of the second, and the Brewers are threatening again. They get two runners on with just one out, and Luis Lara comes to the plate. He gets a pitch and drives it to right field, but Kyle Tucker is camped under it. He makes the catch, and the runners have to hold. That's a huge out for us. We escape the inning without any further damage. The score remains one to nothing, and we can breathe a little easier. That could have been a lot worse.

Bot 2

Bottom of the second, and we need to get something going. Four batters come up, but we can't push a run across. We get a little something, but it's not enough. We leave the inning scoreless, and we're still down by that one run. The bats are quiet so far, and we need to change that soon.

Top 3

The Brewers are up again in the third, and we hold the line. Three batters, no runs. We're keeping it close, but we need our offense to wake up. The pitching is doing its job, keeping us in this game. Now it's on the bats.

Bot 3

Bottom of the third, and this is where we need to make a move. Mookie Betts steps in with one out and a runner on, and he smokes a ground ball through the left side. Miguel Rojas moves to second, and we've got something cooking. Two on, one out. This is our chance. Freddie Freeman steps in, and we're all on our feet. He gets a pitch and flies out to left field. Jackson Chourio makes the catch, and the runners hold. Two outs now, and it's up to Teoscar Hernández. He makes contact, but it's a ground ball to short. Cooper Pratt fields it, fires to second, and Mookie Betts is out. Inning over. We had the chance, we had the runners in scoring position, and we couldn't cash in. The score remains one to nothing, and that one stings. We had our shot, and we let it slip away.

Top 4

We're into the fourth now, and the game is still tight. The Brewers send three batters to the plate, and we get out of the inning without any damage. The score stays one to nothing. We're keeping it close, but we need a breakthrough.

Bot 4

Bottom of the fourth, and we're still searching. Four batters come up, and we can't push a run across. We're getting chances, but we're not capitalizing. The frustration is starting to build. We need a hit, we need a break, we need something.

Top 5

Top of the fifth, and the Brewers are quiet again. Three batters, no runs. We're still in this, but the clock is ticking. We need to find a way to get on the board.

Bot 5

Bottom of the fifth, and we're trying to get something started. Miguel Rojas leads off the inning and draws a walk. Nobody out, a runner on first. This is the spark we need. But we can't build on it. Four batters come up, and we can't move him around. We leave him stranded, and the score remains one to nothing. We're running out of time.

The Sequence

This is where the game gets decided. Top of the sixth, and the Brewers go down in order. We're still down one, and we come up in the bottom of the sixth needing a rally. And we get one. The bats finally wake up. We load the bases with one out, and Will Smith steps to the plate. The tension is thick. He gets a pitch he can drive, and he sends a sharp fly ball to center field. Garrett Mitchell is running, but it's over his head. It drops in. Teoscar Hernández scores. Kyle Tucker scores. Shohei Ohtani holds at third. We take the lead, two to one. The place erupts. That's the hit we've been waiting for. That's the moment. But the lead doesn't last. Top of the seventh, and the Brewers answer. Christian Yelich is on base, and Jake Bauers steps in. He gets a pitch and launches it to right field. That ball is gone. A two-run homer, and just like that, the Brewers are back on top, three to two. And they're not done. Garrett Mitchell steps in with nobody on, and he does the same thing. A homer to right center. Back-to-back. It's four to two Milwaukee, and the air is sucked right out of the building. We come up in the bottom of the seventh, and we need an answer. Three batters, no runs. We can't get anything going. Bottom of the eighth, and we're still chasing. Four batters, no runs. The Brewers add another run in the top of the eighth, and another in the top of the ninth. It's six to two. We come up in the bottom of the ninth, and we need a miracle. Three batters. No runs. It's over.

Wrap-up

Final score, six to two. The Brewers take this one, and they take the series lead, three games to none. Our record drops to oh and three, and we are in a deep, deep hole. We have four games left in this series, and we need to win all of them. It's a tough pill to swallow, but we're not done yet. We've got to find a way to turn this around.
