Pregame

We are in Los Angeles for game four of this seven-game set, and let me tell you, this has been a week to remember so far. The Milwaukee Brewers come in a perfect three and oh, having taken the first three games of this series, while the Dodgers are still searching for their first win at oh and three. This is a chance for us to put a stranglehold on this series, to make a statement that we came here to play, and we came here to win. The energy is high, the bats have been alive, and we are ready for another night of Brewers baseball.

Innings 1-3

The top of the first is a quick one. Three batters come up, three batters go down, and we're back in the dugout with the score still zero to zero. A quiet start, but the game is young. The bottom of the first, though, brings a moment that could have set the tone for the entire night. With one out and two runners on, the Dodgers have something brewing. Will Smith steps in, and he hits a ground ball that looks like trouble. But our shortstop Cooper Pratt snags it, steps on second, and fires to Brice Turang at second, who turns it to Jake Bauers at first. Double play. Freddie Freeman is out at second, Will Smith is out at first, and just like that, the threat is gone. The crowd in Los Angeles groans, and we breathe a collective sigh of relief. Zero to zero after one. The top of the second is another quiet one for us. Three batters, no runs, and we're back on the field. And then, the bottom of the second. This one hurts. With no outs and a runner on, Teoscar Hernández steps in and rips a sharp ground ball to center field. Garrett Mitchell gets to it, but Kyle Tucker scores from third, and just like that, the Dodgers are on the board. Zero to one. The momentum is shifting, and we can feel it slipping. But it gets worse. With one out and two on, Andy Pages steps in and singles on a ground ball to center. Kyle Tucker scores again, and Teoscar Hernández moves to second. Zero to two. The lead is growing, and we need to stop the bleeding. And then, with two outs and two on, Shohei Ohtani steps to the plate. He doesn't miss. A fly ball to right center field, and it's gone. A three-run homer. Teoscar Hernández scores, Andy Pages scores, and just like that, it's zero to four. The bottom of the second is a nightmare, and we're staring at a four-run deficit. The top of the third is another quick one for us. Three batters, no runs. We're still down zero to four, and we need something to change. The bottom of the third is a quiet one for the Dodgers. Three batters, no runs, and we get out of the inning. But we're still trailing by four, and the mountain is steep.

Innings 4-6

The top of the fourth is where we start to climb. With one out and two on, Jake Bauers steps in, and he delivers. A ground-rule double on a line drive to right field. Brice Turang scores, William Contreras scores, and just like that, it's two to four. The deficit is cut in half, and the dugout is alive again. We're back in this ballgame. The bottom of the fourth is a quick one for the Dodgers. Four batters, no runs, and we hold the line at two to four. The top of the fifth is where the game turns. With one out and a runner on, David Hamilton steps in and singles on a ground ball to center field. Sal Frelick scores, and it's three to four. We're within one, and the pressure is on the Dodgers. And then, with two outs and the bases loaded, Jake Bauers steps in again. He works the count, and he walks. David Hamilton scores, Brice Turang moves to third, William Contreras moves to second, and it's four to four. Tie game. The comeback is complete, and we've erased the four-run deficit. The bottom of the fifth is a quiet one for the Dodgers. Three batters, no runs, and we head to the sixth with the score tied at four. The top of the sixth is where we take the lead. With no outs and the bases empty, Garrett Mitchell steps in, and he launches one. A fly ball to center field, and it's gone. A solo homer, and just like that, it's five to four. We have the lead, and the crowd in Los Angeles is stunned. The bottom of the sixth brings a moment of tension. With one out and the bases empty, Kyle Tucker steps in and doubles on a line drive to center field. Garrett Mitchell gets to it, but the runner is in scoring position. The Dodgers are threatening, and we need to bear down. But we get out of it. Four batters, no runs, and we hold the lead at five to four.

The Stretch

We are at the break, and we are up five to four. The play that turned this game was Garrett Mitchell's solo homer in the top of the sixth. With the score tied at four, he stepped in with no outs and the bases empty, and he gave us the lead. That swing changed everything. We went from fighting to stay in the game to holding a lead we can protect. Now, it's about the bullpen. It's about the defense. It's about closing this out and taking a four-game lead in this series. We need to keep the pressure on, keep the Dodgers off balance, and finish this one.

The Sequence

This is where the game is decided. Top of the seventh, and we're up five to four. Three batters come up for us, and three go down. No runs, but we're still holding the lead. Bottom of the seventh, and the Dodgers are threatening. With no outs and the bases empty, Andy Pages steps in and doubles on a sharp line drive to left field. Jackson Chourio gets to it, but the runner is in scoring position. The tension is building. But with two outs and a runner on, Mookie Betts steps in and grounds out. Cooper Pratt to Jake Bauers. The threat is over, and we escape. Top of the eighth, and we go quietly again. Three batters, no runs. We're still up five to four, but we need insurance. Bottom of the eighth, and the Dodgers are knocking. With one out and the bases empty, Will Smith steps in and doubles on a line drive to right field. Sal Frelick gets to it, but there's a fielding error, and Will Smith advances to third. The tying run is ninety feet away, and the stadium is on its feet. But with one out and a runner on, Kyle Tucker steps in and flies out to center field. Garrett Mitchell makes the catch, and the threat is over. We escape again. Top of the ninth, and we need insurance. With two outs and the bases empty, David Hamilton steps in, and he delivers. A fly ball to right center field, and it's gone. A solo homer, and just like that, it's six to four. The lead is two, and we're three outs away. Bottom of the ninth, and the Dodgers have one last chance. Three batters come up, and three go down. No runs. The game is over.

Wrap-up

Final score: Milwaukee six, Los Angeles four. We win by two. The Brewers are now four and oh, and the Dodgers are oh and four. We have clinched this series, four games to none, with three games still to play. This is a statement. This is a sweep in progress. And we are just getting started.

Pregame

Alright, Dodgers fans, let's be honest with each other. This is not where we wanted to be. We're back home for Game 4 of this seven-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers, and the math is ugly. They come in three and oh, we come in oh and three. They've taken the first three games of this series, and we are staring down the barrel of something we don't even want to say out loud. But this is our ballpark, our crowd, our boys in blue. We need this one. We need it bad.

Innings 1-3

The game starts clean. Milwaukee sends three batters up in the top of the first, and three batters back to the dugout. Nothing doing. We come up in the bottom half and get something going early. Four batters, but it ends on a gut punch. With one out and two on, Will Smith steps in. He grounds one up the middle, and it's a tailor-made double play. Cooper Pratt to Brice Turang to Jake Bauers. Freddie Freeman is out at second, Will Smith is out at first. Inning over. The threat dies right there, and you can feel the air come out of the building just a little. Top of the second, same story. Three Brewers, three outs. We're still scoreless, still tied at zero, still waiting for something to break. Then the bottom of the second happens. And oh, does it happen. No outs, a runner on. Kyle Tucker is on third, and Teoscar Hernández steps in. He takes a sharp ground ball and sends it screaming to center field. Garrett Mitchell has no play. Kyle Tucker trots home from third, and just like that, we're on the board. One to nothing. The dam is cracking. One out later, two on. Andy Pages at the plate. He hits a ground ball to center, same direction, same result. Kyle Tucker scores again. Teoscar Hernández moves to second. It's two to nothing, and the crowd is starting to believe. Then, with two outs and two on, the big man steps in. Shohei Ohtani. He gets a pitch he likes, and he does what Shohei Ohtani does. A fly ball to right center field, and it just keeps carrying. That ball is gone. Teoscar Hernández scores, Andy Pages scores, and Shohei Ohtani is jogging around the bases with a three-run homer. Four to nothing. The dugout is alive, the stadium is shaking, and for the first time in this series, we look like the team we thought we were. Top of the third, Milwaukee goes quietly. Three up, three down. Bottom of the third, we go quietly too. Three up, three down. But it doesn't matter. After three, it's four to nothing, Dodgers. We've got a lead, and it feels like a mountain.

Innings 4-6

The mountain starts to crumble in the top of the fourth. Milwaukee sends six batters to the plate, and they scratch out two runs. With one out and two on, Jake Bauers steps in. He hits a line drive to right field, a ground-rule double. Brice Turang scores. William Contreras scores. Just like that, it's four to two, and the lead we built feels a little thinner. We go down in order in the bottom of the fourth. Four to two, still our game, but the momentum is shifting. Top of the fifth, and the shift becomes a landslide. Milwaukee sends eight batters to the plate. With one out and a runner on, David Hamilton singles to center. Andy Pages has no play. Sal Frelick scores. It's four to three, and the dugout is getting nervous. Then, with two outs and the bases loaded, Jake Bauers again. He works a walk. David Hamilton scores. Brice Turang to third, William Contreras to second. It's tied. Four to four. The lead is gone, and the air has completely changed in this ballpark. We go down in order in the bottom of the fifth. Still tied. Top of the sixth, no outs, bases empty. Garrett Mitchell steps in. He hits a fly ball to center field. And it's gone. A solo homer. Five to four, Milwaukee. The lead we built is now a deficit, and it happened so fast it feels like a bad dream. Bottom of the sixth, we try to answer. One out, bases empty. Kyle Tucker doubles on a line drive to center. Garrett Mitchell has to chase it down. We've got a runner in scoring position, and the crowd is trying to will a run home. But we can't bring him in. Four batters, no runs. After six, it's five to four, Milwaukee, and we're running out of time.

The Stretch

Let's take a breath. At the break, it's five to four, Milwaukee. And the play that turned this half on its head was Garrett Mitchell's solo homer in the top of the sixth. We were tied at four, we had all the momentum after clawing back, and one swing of the bat put them ahead. It's not the hits they strung together in the fourth and fifth. It's that one pitch, that one fly ball, that flipped the score and flipped the feeling. We need to find that fire again. We need to get back to the bottom of the second version of this team. The bats are still in us. We just have to believe it.

The Sequence

This is where the game gets decided. Top of the seventh, Milwaukee sends three batters up. Three outs. No runs. We're still down by one, but we're getting the stops. Bottom of the seventh, we need a spark. No outs, bases empty. Andy Pages steps in and rips a sharp line drive to left field. Jackson Chourio can't get to it. Andy Pages is on second with a double. The crowd is on its feet. This is it. This is the moment. Two outs later, a runner on. Mookie Betts at the plate. He grounds out, Cooper Pratt to Jake Bauers. Inning over. The double goes to waste. Still five to four. Top of the eighth, Milwaukee goes quietly. Three up, three down. We've got one more chance, and the bottom of the eighth starts with a gift. One out, bases empty. Will Smith steps in and doubles on a line drive to right field. Sal Frelick fields it, but he misplays it. The ball gets away. Will Smith advances to third on the error. A runner on third, one out. This is the chance. This is the one. Kyle Tucker steps in. He flies out to center field. Garrett Mitchell camps under it. Will Smith has to hold. Two outs. The chance is slipping. The inning ends. We can't bring him home. Still five to four. Top of the ninth, Milwaukee adds insurance. Two outs, bases empty. David Hamilton steps in. He hits a fly ball to right center field. And it's gone. A solo homer. Six to four. The dagger. Bottom of the ninth, we get three batters. Three outs. No runs. The game is over.

Wrap-up

Final score, Milwaukee six, Dodgers four. They win by two. Our record drops to oh and four. Theirs goes to four and oh. And with that, the Brewers have clinched this series, four games to none, with three games still to play. We're down, but we're not done. We've got three more chances to get one on the board. We've got to find a way.
